Media Player
This application runs under the .Net Framework 2.0 which is available as part of the Microsoft Windows Update. As a consequence it requires Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista. It was designed and tested on Windows XP SP 2.
You may well ask, why another media player? I just wanted a small, fast loading media player to stick on my U3 drive, and to run on windows because Windows Media Player, Real Audio Player, iTunes and so on have all become rather large.
Windows already supplies a good file system for organising your music files so I have not written another library function.
This application plays mp3, wma and wav files. It also plays CD tracks. Note, I did not say CDs. You can pick particular tracks to play, and those only.
Playing music is simple. Once the application is running, clicking on the 'open' button (left most icon on the top right of the application) brings up an open files dialogue, that enables you to multi-select the music files, or tracks, you wish to play. Additionally you can drag and drop files from windows explorer onto the application and, as long as the file type is mp3, wma, wav, or cda, it will begin to play. You can also drop folders onto the application and it will play every music file in the folder. A good example would be dropping an entire CD drive onto it and playing the CD.
Media Player accepts command line parameters as well, so you can invoke it from the command line with a music file, or folder, or multiple music files to play. This means you can associate Media Player with files to make it the default player for mp3 files, and so on. Associating it to the folder 'open' action adds the possibility to play all music files in the folder directly from windows explorer.
Media Player is available in two formats, as a U3 installer package, and as a zipped executable.
